History of diffusion-absorption
First application
The first record of absorption cooling technology to be used is the cooling of beer in a brewery in Marseille /France with sulphuric acid/water in the 19th century. |
Invention of diffusion-technology
In 1899 H. Geppert describes and patents a Diffusions- absorption-cooling unit. This allows the design of cooling unit without any moving parts. |
First continuous cooling units
The first working cooling units are designed in Sweden by Platen und Munters in 1922. From 1926 refrigerators using this technology are in production. The products use water/ammonia solution as the working pair. |
First gas operated Diffusion-absorption-heatpump
In 1936 SERVEL in USA produces a heatpump with up to 9 kW heat output. In the 1980s the Swiss company SIBIR starts the development of a gas operated heatpump. |
Industrial production
Dr. Hans Stierlin/Creatherm develops the "DAHP" Diffusion-Absorption-Heat-Pump from 1988 on. The DAHP is produced under license in the Netherlands beginning 1997. |
ENTEX cooling units and gasheatpump
From 1990 ENTEX develops absorption units for various applications: Hotel-Minibars, refrigerators, gas-airconditioners, wasteheat operated cooling units and the second generation of gas heatpumps: The products combine significantly lower costs and higher output at the same time. |
